Edward Hospital & Health Services Achieves Immediate Savings

Edward Hospital & Health Services, Naperville, joined the Illinois Purchasing Collaborative (IPC) in early 2011 in order to benefit from the multitude of opportunities for reducing supply chain costs. There are currently 33 hospitals benefitting from IPC membership.

Harold Richards, Director, Materials Management, says, "The IPC has already been very instrumental to our success here at Edward Hospital. Value through cost savings as well as cost avoidance was realized immediately."

Edward Hospital will initially benefit from a $95,000 (15%) savings by converting to IPC's Warehouse Direct office supply contract. Significant savings are also being realized on surgeon gloves, dressings and gauze, endotracheal tubes, and breast implants.

Edward Hospital & Health Services is a full-service, regional health care provider offering access to complex medical specialties and innovative programming. Edward Hospital has 309 private patient rooms and 4,300 employees.

"There's a strong alliance among the IPC members which is fostered by the fact that the members primarily drive the Collaborative's decision making process," says Richards. "That alliance serves to capture the interest of not only local but national suppliers from many product categories and service lines, which is extremely important for the success of a regional GPO. We have a formula that is proven, which works for hospitals large and small. There's no reason to not be a member!"
